Chakra Two is referred to as the Sacral Chakra. Its essential right is to want.
This Chakra is located just below the navel and the energy moves up from the relationship with the self to relationships with others. We move from steady grounding to fluid movement.
It governs our self worth, sexuality, ability to communicate, graceful movement, ability to adapt and experience pleasure. The element is water representing our ability to “go with the flow” in life and releasing control and guilt issues.

This Chakra governs our essential energy; partnership, clear boundaries, and the desire to keep our lineage going. It is the gateway to the subconscious.  We feel things before we know them.

It is the place where our passions turn to creative energy. So it is important to be connected physically and emotionally to our bodies.

Our hips are where we store our emotions. This is why in a yoga class when we do hip openers we may feel sensations of anger, sadness, or nausea and dizziness. Chakra Two demands that we learn to accept change and learn flexibility. We cannot cling to things or people around us. For many people change is frightening and difficult so they may rather stay in an unhealthy place because it is familiar.

Release is very important for this and all Chakras. When you let go of what no longer serves you, you allow space to receive.

This chakra has to do with openly giving. Generosity of the spirit as well as material goods.  Giving what we have to offer the world around us. Sometimes when we act in a ungenerous way it is because we do not give to ourselves.  We do not feel our own self-worth.

Svadhisthana encompasses sexual organs, lower vertebrae, pelvis, hips, bladder

and appendix.

When Chakra two is unbalanced we may suffer from painful menstrual cycles, low back pain, sexual and urinary problems and knee or hip trouble. On occasion addictions can stem from this Chakra. One becomes controlled through addiction.

This Chakra begins to develop between ages two and four. The child begins to create their own individuality yet are under the guidance of the parents.

A healthy second Chakra promotes a healthy yin/yang existence, graceful movement.

It allows us to nurture yourself and others and experience passion, pleasure, and sensuality.
